Your Bio

Welcome to my photographic site!

I’m an architect of profession, and working with visual and spacial surroundings I always come back to a fascination for shapes that hint to movement, to change. And at the same time, having a need to combine this with elements that give a sense of harmony, resting in themselves.

I guess this also goes for the way I see and capture images.

I remember from my youth an essential experience, driving past the Trolltindane mountains near Åndalsnes on a trip with my family. The overwhelming grandness of these cathedral-like walls looming more than a 1000 m above the valley floor, with spires and pillars of dimensions never seen before, made an impact - giving a feeling that here was something exceeding the mere mineral shapes. As if a grand inner life expressed itself in the grooves of the Earth.

I have since always photographed, mostly snapshooting without ambitions, but trying to catch situations, shapes and light that appealed to me – sometimes, if possible, to catch some of this difficult-to-describe feeling in the endlessly varied shapes of nature.

So I often find myself shooting landscape and nature scenes; also architecture and townscape. People more occasionally – and mostly for private use. I still have concerns about displaying images of family and friends to the whole world…

Photo equipment in the past: First camera at 11 years old - an Agfa Click II - fix focus and only for bright conditions...
Later Minolta SRT101, Pentax MX (which I wore out), Minox pocket camera, Leica CL (probably the camera I have appreciated the most). When the Leica was stolen in the early 80's, I found a second-hand Pentax ME which I kept using until the digital age struck, in my case in 2005.

The equipment I use today:
Canon Powershot S70
Pentax K10D
SMC DA 16-45 mm f 4.0
SMC DA 12-24 mm f 4.0
SMC FA 31 mm f 1.8
SMC FA 35 mm f 2.0
SMC FA 50 mm f 1.4
SMC FA 77 mm f 1.8
SMC A 135 mm f 2.8
SMC DA 55-300 mm f 4-5.8
SMC DA* 300 mm f 4.0

My old Pentax lenses - not so oftenly used now:
SMC-M 40 mm f 2.8
SMC-M 28 mm f 2.8
SMC-M 75-150 mm f 4.0
